Dealers Dan Carbon and Angela Baker always carry a secret weapon in their pockets — a magnet. That magnet helps identify metals.

If the magnet sticks, it’s ferrous metal:

  • Iron and steel
  • Nickel
  • Cobalt

If the magent does NOT stick, it’s a non-ferrous metal:

  • Aluminum
  • Lead
  • Copper
  • Brass
  • Pot metal
  • Pewter
  • Mercury
  • Silver
